URBAN ENERGY TRANSITIONS
Establishes a dialogue between socio-technical transitions and energy geographies to identify and analyse energy transition pathways. The project sheds light on municipal-scale energy services regimes. |
ENERGY4WELLBEING
Pilots and installs solar-powered mini-grids as a form of clean and safe energy in Jabula and Qando Qando, Cape Town, and gathers data on how access to solar-powered mini grids can improve human wellbeing. |
UMBANE
Delivers solar microgrids to provide refrigeration capacity in Qando Qando, including providing business support for 21 female entrepreneurs. VALUING LOCAL KNOWLEGDE IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
Facilitates the production of transdisciplinary knowledge from local renewable energy end-users with the view to adapt and develop policy and practice for the South African context. SUPPORTING ENERGY SERVICES DELIVERY THROUGH EVIDENCE-BASED POLICY LEARNING
Facilitates and bolsters evidence-based inputs on policymaking for energy service delivery in informal settlements. Contributes to policy learning on the utility of multi-stakeholder international learning in relation to informal community settings as site for learning. |
